I am from Shenzhen, a coastal city located in the tropical zone in the south of China. All tropical things are engraved into my bones as seals. In the four-year study in Beijing, I miss all tropical things very much, so I hope to draw some previous experience. My love for tropical zone never lessens during the four-year period when I live in the north. Instead, it grows day by day. The strong contrast between the south and the north, in the course of creation, deepens my understanding in childhood and adolescence experience. The events which impressed me most in the tropical zone occurred in such cool and wide places as swimming pool and seaside. My works are based on some of my personal experience, such as, when I dived to see shark; the moment my toes were scratched by the boat anchor on the deck; when I went to seaside on holiday, my period would come; when I dived, I would be rolled by sea water as roller washing machine…The stories, big or small, which occurred in my life, wouldn’t have attracted my strong attention if I didn’t leave my hometown for a long time. After I grow up, I look back and discover these memories are amusing but somewhat frightening: bacterial infection hidden at the bottom of crowded public swimming pool; mosquito and disease spreading; accidental injury……
